Questions

Questions, answered properly

Brindola is a POS for restaurants, cafés, bars, shops and salons that runs a full multi-device service on a dead internet line, on the venue's own hardware, with the venue's data staying in the building. Everything below follows from that one decision.

Setting up, or looking for how a screen works? The documentation walks through every one. Documentation

When the internet goes down

Does Brindola keep working when the internet goes down?

Yes, all of it. Brindola keeps the venue's record on a computer in the venue, and every screen talks to that computer over your own network, so the internet is never in the path. With the line down, all of these keep working as before: the order screens on every terminal; phones and tablets on your network taking orders at the table; the kitchen screens and kitchen printers, with each order firing to its station; receipt printers and the cash drawer; the guest display, the pickup board and the self-service kiosk; splitting a bill, taking cash and recording card payments; the register close with its X and Z reports; and every report. The cloud, if you connect one, only receives copies later. There is no degraded mode to fall into.

When the internet goes down, step by step

How do card payments work without internet?

The card is taken by your bank's card terminal, which stands beside Brindola and reaches the bank over its own connection, usually its own SIM or line. The cashier keys the amount into the terminal and records it in Brindola as a card payment, so the drawer and the close still agree. Brindola never holds a card to approve later, so there is no queue of offline card payments waiting to come back declined. A terminal on its own SIM keeps approving cards while the venue's broadband is down; one that shares the venue's internet goes down with it, which is worth asking your bank about.

How do I test it before I buy?

Unplug the internet at the router, leave your own network on, and run a service. Open a table and add items with modifiers: they are on the terminal. Send them: they are on the kitchen screen and the kitchen printer. Add another round: it reaches the kitchen the same way. Split the bill by item, evenly or by amount. Take two card payments on the bank terminal and record each one, then take some cash. Close the register and read the day's report. Plug the internet back in: the close goes to your backoffice, if you have one, and delivery orders still inside the platform's acceptance window arrive; one the platform timed out while you were offline is shown as not accepted in time. The fourteen-day trial runs the full Plus plan on your own hardware, so the whole test costs nothing.

When the internet goes down, step by step

How long can it run without a connection?

Indefinitely. There is no read-only state after a few hours and no feature that quietly withdraws: a venue can trade for a week on a dead line and close every day normally. The one thing on a clock is the licence, which renews over the internet, keeps fourteen days of grace past its date, and can also be installed from a file.

What does still need the internet?

Buying or renewing a licence, syncing daily closes to a backoffice, sending emailed receipts, sending RS.ge documents in Georgia, and receiving orders from delivery platforms. Closes, emails and RS.ge documents wait and go out when the line comes back. Delivery orders cannot reach you while it is down, and a platform cancels an order nobody accepts in time, so pause your listing in the platform's own app if the outage will be long. None of this is on the ordering, kitchen or payment path.

When the internet goes down, step by step

Is this just a cache, like everyone else's offline mode?

No, and this is the difference that matters. Other systems keep the real record in a cloud and cache a copy locally, so their offline mode is a list of things you cannot do. Brindola's real record is on the device in your venue; the cloud, when you use one at all, is a place copies are sent to.

Can I connect an AI assistant?

Connect a compatible AI assistant to explore sales, products and service in plain language. AI assistants are included in Plus and the fourteen-day trial. Access is read-only and follows the connecting staff member’s permissions. The assistant currently runs on the main computer. If you choose a cloud model, the information it reads is sent to that provider.

Your data

Where is my data stored?

On the main device in your venue, in one file, on hardware you own, in a building you can lock.

What leaves the building?

Only the aggregate daily close, and only if you have connected a backoffice on purpose. Individual tickets, guest records, tenders and margins never leave.

How do I back it up?

Brindola writes backups on a schedule and lets you take one by hand at any moment, to a folder, a network share or a USB stick you carry home. The backup is the same file the terminal runs on, so a restore is a copy.

What happens to my data if I stop paying?

It stays yours and it stays where it is. The terminal keeps trading on the licence you already paid for until it expires, and cancelling never rewrites, hides or deletes anything you recorded.

Hardware

What does it run on?

Brindola runs on ordinary desktop hardware. Start with a laptop or desktop, using a mouse and keyboard or a touch screen. A receipt printer and cash drawer are optional. Add equipment as your business grows.

Which printers work?

ESC/POS receipt printers over the network, over USB, or through the operating system's spooler. Brindola probes the printer for its firmware, model and serial, and can print A4 or Letter documents on an office printer from the same engine.

Setting up a printer, step by step

Is a tablet enough?

For a floor terminal, a kitchen screen, a guest display or a kiosk, yes: a tablet runs the Brindola app. For the main device, no. That machine should be plugged into power and a wire rather than carried around a room, because it is the one every other screen relies on.

How do extra screens connect?

Over your own network. Multi-device is off until you turn it on; then a new screen joins with a six-digit code valid for five minutes, and from then on it follows the main device.

Pairing a device, step by step

How do I set up a kitchen screen?

Name your stations, such as the grill and the bar, route each catalog section to one, and open the kitchen screen on the main device or on a second device paired to it. Each station can show a screen, print a ticket, or both, so a kitchen can keep its printer for the first services and go paperless when the team is ready.

Setting up a kitchen screen, step by step

Can guests order for themselves?

Yes, at a self-service kiosk: a touch screen in your venue where a guest picks a language, browses the catalog with photos and allergens, builds the order and taps Confirm. They get an order number, printed on a slip if the kiosk has a printer, and pay at the counter by saying it; the kitchen screen and the pickup board then treat it like any counter order. Paying by card at the kiosk itself is planned. Age-restricted items are sold at the counter only. The kiosk runs on your own network with no internet, and it is part of Plus.

Do I need a receipt printer?

Give customers a receipt on a thermal roll, an ordinary A4 or Letter page, or by email as a PDF. You can also save the PDF. Choose what fits the counter and the customer.

Money and billing

How much does it cost?

There are three plans priced per venue (Essentials, Plus and Enterprise), paid monthly or annually in your own currency. The pricing page shows the numbers for your country and names the company that invoices you.

Do you take a cut of my revenue?

No. There is no percentage and no fee on a sale, on any plan. The only thing counted is delivery orders through our bridge, and only if you switch it on.

Is there a trial?

Fourteen days on the full Plus plan, with no card and no account. You install it on your own hardware and run your own menu on it.

What is the delivery intake add-on?

A metered charge for receiving orders from the delivery platforms through our order bridge, counted per order your terminal accepts, per active venue per month, or both, as the pricing table for your country shows. An order you reject, or one the platform withdraws unanswered, is never counted. It is the only add-on, and it is optional on every plan.

Enterprise

Can we run Brindola under our own brand, inside our own stack?

That is what Enterprise is: your name and colours on the terminal, your backoffice behind it through one sync adapter, and your market's rules as a package. It is arranged per contract with restaurant groups, hospitality companies and software companies that operate their own backoffice.

What is a backoffice, and do I need one?

The system a group runs above its venues: menus, prices, staff and reports for every site in one place. Brindola pulls the menu, staff and settings down from it through one sync adapter and pushes each day's close back up. A single venue does not need one, because the terminal authors its own menu and keeps its own reports.

What does Enterprise cost?

Per contract. Device counts, support and the integration work are agreed once, with no revenue share in either direction. Write to us with your backoffice and the venues you run and we will answer within the week.

In your country

Who invoices me for the subscription?

Pliu AB sells through Stripe, which is the merchant of record: at checkout it is Link, a Stripe company, that charges you and sends the invoice. You can add your company's name and tax number to it there.

Why are prices shown in AED and charged in USD?

The plans are priced in US dollars, and the dirham has been pegged to the dollar at a fixed rate for decades, so the AED figure here is an estimate for orientation. Stripe's checkout may show and charge the amount in dirhams at its own rate; the amount shown at checkout is the amount taken.

Does Brindola issue a UAE tax invoice with the TRN and the VAT?

Yes. Every receipt shows the 5 % VAT inside the total and carries your TRN in its header, with the heading you choose for it, such as Tax Invoice. For a company, the invoice on A4 names the buyer with its registered name, address and TRN, and breaks the VAT down by rate, net and gross. The rate is stamped onto each line when the order is taken, so a later change never rewrites an old invoice, and a gapless receipt number series can be switched on. Brindola is not connected to the UAE's e-invoicing network, which starts with invoices between businesses from 2027; a guest's receipt is outside it for now.

Do I need a fiscal device or a certified POS in the UAE?

No. UAE VAT law asks for a document, the tax invoice, not for a certified terminal or a sealed device under the counter, and nothing certifies a POS. What the Federal Tax Authority expects is the invoice and the records behind it, which Brindola keeps on your own machine.

Which delivery platforms does Brindola take orders from?

Through our order bridge, which receives orders and turns them into ordinary orders on the kitchen display and in the day's close. In the UAE those are talabat and Deliveroo, both coming soon: the bridge's connection to each is built, and each passes the platform's own tests before the first venue's orders come through it. Careem and Noon Food are not connected.

How much does Brindola cost in Dubai and the UAE?

Essentials, for one device, is about AED 180 a month, and Plus, for up to eight devices with kitchen screens, guest displays and paired terminals, is about AED 364; paying a year ahead costs ten months. The dirham figures are estimates from the USD 49 and USD 99 that Stripe charges. Delivery orders through the bridge are an optional add-on of USD 39 a venue a month, about AED 143. There is no revenue share, no per-transaction fee and no hardware bundle: it runs on a Windows or Linux computer you already own or buy anywhere, and the first fourteen days of Plus are free, with no card.

What should I test before choosing a POS in Dubai?

Six things, on the vendor's own equipment, before you sign. Brindola shows all six in the fourteen-day trial.

  • A tax invoice for a company, with its TRN and the VAT The A4 invoice carries the buyer's TRN and the VAT on it.
  • An order reaching the kitchen screen Tickets appear on the kitchen screen.
  • Stock and food cost coming off as you sell Ingredients are deducted with every sale, with cost of sales and margin.
  • Service with the internet cable pulled Unplug the router and nothing changes on the floor.
  • A card payment on your bank's terminal Your bank's terminal works alongside, its receipt number recorded on the payment.
  • The price of every device and add-on you will run One price per venue, in dirhams.

Ask every vendor, us included, which delivery platforms are live in the UAE today: for Brindola, talabat and Deliveroo are coming soon.

Where does my data live?

On the main device in your venue, in one file you can back up. Every other screen is served by it. Only the aggregate daily close leaves, to a backoffice you choose.
