A desktop computer running Brindola is the starting point. Add a touch screen, receipt printer, cash drawer, scanner or paired screen to suit the work.

Equipment What to decide What to test
Main computer A Windows, Linux or macOS package offered on the download page Launch, sign-in, sleep settings and restart
Touch display Enough space for order entry and payment controls Common actions at the display’s normal scale
Receipt printer Network, USB or operating-system printing; paper width Complete receipt, cut and text in every language you use
Cash drawer Which printer opens it and which register it belongs to Open from the intended terminal only
Kitchen printer Station routing and where tickets are collected Fire one order from each selling device
Scanner How it sends a barcode to the device Find a real catalog item without entering stray characters
Card terminal Your provider and supported connection method Approval, decline and reconciliation

Give network printers a stable address. Keep the main computer and companions on a network where they can reach one another; a guest network may isolate devices even when both have internet access.

A USB printer belongs to its connected computer. Decide where a job should print before assigning the device’s default printer. Keep paper rolls and the printer’s power supply accessible to staff.

To add a printer, choose what it prints and connect a cash drawer, follow Set up printers and the cash drawer.

Print a receipt with long item names, modifiers, discounts and all the scripts your venue uses. Previewing text on screen does not prove the printer can render it. Check the currency, tax breakdown and footer at the selected paper width.

A named card option records how the customer paid. It only drives the terminal when a supported integration is configured. Staff using a standalone terminal must wait for its approval before recording the payment in Brindola. See Payments and your country.
